Policy & Information - Swann Morton
I am an official distributor of Swann Morton products. Swann Morton Ltd. is a British manufacturer of scalpel handles, blades and other surgical equipment. It was founded in 1932 by Walter R. Swann, J. A. Morton and D. Fairweather
Why Swann Morton ?
Precision when paper cutting is essential, that is why I recommend Swann Morton for papercutting.
Swann-Morton have become a world leader in the manufacture of surgical blades, scalpels and handles. It is a name respected globally for quality, precision, consistency and reliability and recognised for combining traditional blade making skills with the latest technology
Which blades ?
Which blade is a personal choice, what one person loves another may not. I recommend an 11, 10a or 15a. with a number 3 handle
How often should I change the blade ?
This varies from person to person, when you feel the blade is dragging or pulling the paper, then change the blade over. For some, a blade may last only thirty minutes, others a day.
I always have a spare handle, primed with a new blade, so I can quickly check the difference in cut between a working and new blade..
Once a blade isnt quite sharp enough for those crisp lines, you can use it for cutting card etc, before being disposed of safely.
Safe disposal of used blades is essential, Swann Morton, have a range of tools for safe removal and disposal.
The blades, are super sharp, I cannot emphasise how sharp they are, they are blade of choice for surgeons after all. So safe removal and disposal is essential.
Please check with your local council on how to dispose of your sharps box, always have a back up handy.
Keep out of reach of children, and under 18's.
Use a Swann Morton remover to change blades
Seek medical advice if you should injure yourself
Dispose of used sharps (blades) as recommended by your council
